Dear Alex

Dear Alex,

One year ago today, I gave birth to a 9 lb 7 oz baby boy .. you! A lot of people don't believe in love at first sight, but I do. Especially that day! You stole my heart, from the moment I looked into your eyes. I never thought I could love a little boy, as much as I love you.

On your first birthday, you woke up around 8 am. You ate Chex cereal for breakfast (minus the milk). For lunch you ate pancakes with Sissy, your favorite! And for dinner, we took you to Olive Garden. You ate a meal, just as a King would have. Fried ravioli, stuffed mushrooms, bread sticks, zuppa tuscana soup and some yummy pasta! And the waitresses sang you their version of "Happy Birthday" followed with a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake with one candle in it. What a big boy you are!

During the day, you had fun playing with Sissy. It's so funny to watch you push your walkers and ride on toys on your knees. You love the new cars we got you for your birthday too. They play music, and you love to dance along.

After lunch, we took your birthday pictures. You were running a low grade fever all day for some reason, but you were a trooper. You really enjoy your teddy bear bible and stuffed teddy.

When I think back to when you were born, you really make me proud. You have learned so many new things!

Here are some of your greatest milestones, thus far:
  • One month - even though you just came into the world, you are very aware of your surroundings and can smile at those you love already.
  • Two months - you started to sleep through the night. You like to go to bed at 8 and are up and ready to eat again by 7 am.
  • Three months - you really have taken to your toys. You love to lay under your playmate and play with those silly rain forest animals.
  • Four months - you can roll over! But you don't like laying on your belly too long :(
  • Five months - you love to eat baby food! Sweet potatoes and squash seem to be your favorite.
  • Six months - you can sit up! And you love to be tickled.
  • Seven months - you are really starting to talk up a storm. It's too bad we don't quite understand you yet.
  • Eight months - you do great with picking up food and toys with your pointer finger and thumb.
  • Nine months - you have finally started to crawl!
  • Ten months - you now have three teeth. You also started to drink your formula out of sippy cups, no more bottles, yay!
  • Eleven months - Your favorite words to say are .. good, mine, boop (poop), DadDad, Mum, and Stitsy (Sissy).
  • Twelve months - You have four teeth. You don't walk yet, but you love to run around standing up on your knees. You sleep now from 9 pm-9 am. You haven't drank any formula in the past two days! You love to follow Mamma around all day and help her with chores. And you think that every time the mud room door open/closes, that DadDad is home.

There are many more accomplishments and places you have been too, but I will share those with you as you get older as well. I hope that when you are older, reading this, that you will see how much of a blessing you have been in everyone's life that you have come across thus far.

With love,

Mamma
